SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union will never ask for sensitive personal or account information through an unsolicited phone call, text or email.
Scammers may impersonate Credit Union employees or even spoof our phone number, claiming to be from the “fraud department” to gain access to your accounts.
We will never ask you to provide:
- Online banking username, password or security answers
- Full debit card numbers, PINs or CVV codes
- Full account numbers or social security numbers
- Verification codes or one-time passcodes
- Personal Identification data
We will also never:
- Send urgent messages with links to unlock or verify your account or personal data.
- Ask you to download software or provide remote access to your computer.
If you receive a suspicious call, text or Email:
- Stop and hang up: Do not reply to the text, open any links, provide verification codes or answer the caller’s questions.
- Verify independently: Contact us directly at (716) 673-3585. Never use a phone number or email address provided in a suspicious message.
- Know your legitimate fraud alerts. Our card services may send fraud alerts asking you to reply “yes” or “no” to confirm a purchase. They will not ask for personal information or direct you to click a link to verify a transaction.
- Let us know: If you believe you have been contacted by a scammer impersonating the SUNY Fredonia Federal Credit Union, let us know. Provide as much detail as possible about the email, call or text you received.
